Pensacola, Fla. – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida (BBBSNWFL) board and staff members helped make the dreams of Little Sister Brittanie come true. After an initial car donation fell through in May, Little Sister Brittanie’s response and story spoke to the hearts of many. With the help of Anderson Subaru, Dana Gaudet, Brittanie’s Big Sister Melissa, and donations from thirteen other board and staff members, along with Brittanie’s savings, they were able to help Brittanie purchase a car of her own. Brittanie’s maturity, dedication, and hard work is what inspired
the community to come together to make this possible.
Brittanie is a Little in the School to Work program at Navy Federal Credit Union. The School to Work program is aimed at helping students improve their chances of graduating and transitioning to the workplace and/or post-secondary education. The doors of hope and opportunity open for students by allowing them to shadow volunteer employee mentors in the workplace for just a few hours each month during the school year.
Brittanie has worked hard over the past year to save money in hopes of one day being able to purchase a dependable vehicle of her own. She was disappointed after hearing the news that the initial donation fell through. However, the way Brittanie responded spoke to the hearts of many, “I
understand and it’s okay. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I am very glad and thankful I was first to come to mind, that alone touched my heart. I continue to save money towards trying to get a dependable vehicle.” Commented Brittanie. “Big Brothers Big Sisters has been a blessing to me and has brought a wonderful woman who is so much more than just a mentor to me into my life. Thank you for everything you do and for touching so many young people’s lives.”
